| The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has compiled new guidelines on signs in an effort to provide foreign visitors with better information.
The revision to the guidelines was made with an eye on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
The guidelines list expressions in English, Chinese and Korean for 1,800 items. They include the names of sightseeing spots and places such as the Tokyo Skytree and Ginza, as well as warning signs at train stations.
The guidelines also call for creating new pictorial symbols. Those include restaurants and convenience stores with English menus and ATMs that accept foreign credit cards. | |
